Ten Ryu No Kon

Kata – Ten Ryu No Kon – While maybe not this variation, Ten Ryu No Kon is purportedly the Bo kata that Gichen Funakoshi favored most.
  1. (n) Yoi. Step back left leg, Zenkutsu Dachi, Otoshi Uchi.
  2. (w) Slide left foot up into left Kokutsu Dachi, Osae Uke. (right foot doesn’t move)
  3. (e) Moving the left foot only, pivot 180 degrees into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Morote Uke Tate, Otoshi Uchi.
  4. (e) Drop your weight back into Shikko Dachi bringing Bo back as if it were ready for Tsuki Kome.
  5. (e) Pivot back to right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tsuki Kome (Bo is anchored between elbow and body).
  6. (n) Pivot on right foot 90 degrees to the left into Heisoku Dachi, keeping Bo level and anchored under the elbow.
  7. (n) Step forward with right foot into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Morote Uke Tate, Otoshi Uchi.
  8. (n) Bring Bo back as if ready for Tsuki Kome, at the same time lift right foot up. Step forward into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tsuki Kome.
  9. (ne) Turn 45 degrees to right into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Morote Uke Tate, Otoshi Uchi.
  10. (ne) Drop your weight back into Shikko Dachi bringing Bo back as if it were ready for Tsuki Kome.
  11. (ne) Pivot back to right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tsuki Kome (Bo is anchored between elbow and body).
  12. (nw) Pivot 90 degrees to left on left foot into Heisoku Dachi, keeping Bo level and anchored under the elbow.
  13. (nw) Step forward into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Morote Uke Tate, Otoshi Uchi.
  14. (s) Pivot 45 degrees to the left on right foot into left Renoji Dachi, Bo resting outside of right arm and level.
  15. (s) Take a small step forward with left foot.
  16. (n) Bring right knee up and jump turning 180, landing with right foot on floor and left knee on floor, Gedan Uchi to the left side, Migi Harai Uke Chudan.
  17. (n) Stand up into Hachiji Dachi, bringing the Bo back over the left shoulder using Jun Nigiri in the center of the Bo.
  18. (n) Rotate the Bo in front on the body back to Yoi.
